ABOUT THE BURSAR
ABSA Bank (Amalgamated Banks of South Africa) is a South African subsidiary of the Barclays Africa Group. They are a financial services provider who offer corporate, investment, retails and business banking, as well as wealth management services and products to clients across South Africa and Namibia.
It should also be noted that “ABSA” was founded in 1991 and consequently changed their name to “Barclays Africa Group Limited” in 2013.
ABOUT THE BURSARY
The bursary will cover the students full tuition expenses. Students will be assessed annually to ensure that satisfactory performance is maintained, for the renewal of the bursary.
Bursaries are awarded to students studying (or intending on studying) within the following fields:
- Actuarial Science
- Business Mathematics and Informatics
- Data Science
- Engineering (Financial/ Industrial/ Process)
- Informatics
- Information Technology
- Law
- Risk/ Investment Management
- Statistics
ELIGIBILITY
Applicants must meet the following minimum criteria before submitting a bursary application:
For current Grade 12/ Matric students:
- Minimum average of 80% in the June exams,
- Registered and accepted to study full-time at a recognised South African university for the upcoming year,
- Clear criminal record.
For current undergraduate/ postgraduate university students:
- Undergraduate students must have a minimum average of 70% for first semester (of current year),
- Studying full-time at a recognised South African university for the upcoming year,
- Clear criminal record.
