Potato Industry Development Trust Bursaries South Africa
ABOUT THE BURSAR
The Potato Industry Development Trust (PIDT), as part of Potatoes South Africa, was initiated in November 2004 as a way to provide funding for students within the agricultural field of study.
The aim of the Trust was to ensure the continuity of the potato industry in South Africa, by equipping students with a pool of knowledge (and the funding) to study and enter into the agricultural market.
ABOUT THE BURSARY
Bursaries will be awarded to students within the field of agriculture (both undergraduate and postgraduate studies).
Once students have completed their studies, they will be required to work for a potato-industry related organisation, company or institution for an amount of time equal to their bursary award.
ELIGIBILITY
Applicants must satisfy the following minimum entry criteria before applying:
Undergraduate/ diploma students:
- South African citizen,
- In second year of study in agriculture,
- Enrolled at a recognised South African tertiary institution,
- Strong academic record.
Postgraduate students:
- South African citizen,
- Studying Honours/ Masters/ PhD in agriculture,
- Enrolled at a recognised South African tertiary institution,
- Strong academic record.
*Preference will be given to students interested in pursuing research in a potato-related field.

The following items must be included with your application form:
Undergraduate students:
- ID document (certified copy),
- Qualification certificates,
- Latest academic transcripts/ records,
- Admission letter from tertiary institution,
- Any additional documents that may be relevant to your application.
Postgraduate students:
- ID document (certified copy),
- Qualification certificates,
- Latest academic transcripts/ records,
- Admission letter from tertiary institution,
- Colour photograph (full length),
- Masters/ PhD students must include a progress report/ recommendation letter from their supervisor,
- Any additional documents that may be relevant to your application.
