About SEWAFRICA
SEWAFRICA Training Centre was founded in 2001 to meet the specific needs of the clothing sector in Inner City Johannesburg.
The need for training and SEWAFRICA’s reputation in the industry grew to the extent that we had to move to new, larger premises in February of 2004, thereby increasing our capacity to meet the demand. We are currently operating from SEWAFRICA House, 136 Pritchard Street, Johannesburg.
SEWAFRICA offers full time courses in Fashion, Design and Illustration, Pattern Making and part time courses in Pattern Making and Dressmaking. In addition SEWAFRICA offers a two year Diploma with International Accreditation through City and Guilds International.

The SEWAFRICA Training Centre facilities meet the University of Johannesburg, F,P & M SETA and Services SETA, City and Guilds and Department of Labour standards and all instructors are qualified.
In 2005 SEWAFRICA was a finalist in the Homegrown Awards for the Bridge Builder of the Year Award for work done with young designers and interventions within the informal in the industry. In 2008 The Managing Director was nominated as a Women of Influence by CEO magazine.
