IIE Whole School Management

INTRODUCTION

Education managers are often faced with the challenge of having to respond effectively to regulatory requirements that govern both the management of schools as well as the teaching and learning processes. Individuals therefore need to equip themselves with the necessary skills and knowledge to respond to such complexities effectively. This programme equips individuals with Whole School Management principles in order for education managers to achieve excellence in school operations.
 

WHO SHOULD ATTEND

HODs and/or School Principals looking to complete a quality professional development learning programme to enhance their management skills.
 

DURATION

Lectures are conducted once a week in the evening or on a Saturday morning over 12 weeks.
 

PROGRAMMES MATERIAL

The SLP fee includes all programme material, which becomes the property of the student. This material constitutes a valuable source of ongoing reference.
 

PROGRAMME EVALUATION

Students will be required to complete an assignment as a final assessment.
 

PROGRAMME OVERVIEW

This programme consists of five individual modules, each of which are described below:
Whole School Management

  • Factors influencing the organisational climate within an educational institution.
  • The influence of socio economic and political factors on the development of excellence within the school system.
  • Department of Education National policy on Whole School Management.
  • Communicate and implement strategies that addresses the current management issues within the South African school context.
  • Assess and interpret the performance of staff members and the subsequent development of strategies that will aid the professional development of educators.
  • The schools’s accountability to the community.

 

THE INDEPENDENT INSTITUTE OF EDUCATION (THE IIE) – ACCREDITED BY THE BRITISH ACCREDITATION COUNCIL

ENTRANCE REQUIREMENTS

Students should meet the following requirements:

  • Minimum of four years teaching experience.
  • Preferably be in a management position within a teaching environment.
  • Be proficient in English.
  • Preferably have three to four years work experience.
  • Must be able to engage in self-directed study.
