APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS OF THE FACULTY OF LAW
(Minimum APS needed and minimum score in each of the Gr.12 subjects)
- Only First Year students will need to come onto campus to collect their student cards.
- In order to gain access to campus you will need your printed proof of registration and an ID or driver’s license.
- Access cards for senior students will be automatically activated after registration.
- If you are under the age of 18 on 07 January 2024, you and your parent/guardian should sign THIS AGREEMENT FORM and submit this completed form to the Faculty during the First Year Seminar.

Students who register for the first time in 2024 and complete their Master’s degrees within a period of two years, qualify for a reimbursement of their full tuition fees (excluding the registration fee and ITlevy) subject to certain terms and conditions. The main condition is that the tuition fees must not havebeen paid by third parties, for example an employer.
Purpose of the qualification
The purpose of this qualification is to enable a student to demonstrate an ability to master at an advanced level the current state of knowledge on a given topic within a particular branch of the law.
The purpose of the three taught modules is to develop the student’s intellectual and theoreticalcompetencies at an advanced level, and to strengthen his/her ability to understand the different fieldsof study and related law from the viewpoint of a critical analysis of the underlying principles and acomparative evaluation of the application value of foreign data.
The purpose of the minor dissertation is to develop the student’s capacity to give a scientific accountof and apply the knowledge in the area of the different fields of study and related law that he/she hasgained through literature study.
General rules of access
The minimum entry requirement is an LLB degree (or equivalent qualification) – 65% average.

*Waived in the case of international students with a non-South African secondary school-leaver’s certificate which does not include a second language.
Take note: Meeting the Faculty’s minimum requirements for a particular programme does not necessarily guarantee admission to that programme due to space constraints.
