In today’s competitive and pressurised business environment, it’s not enough for project managers – or senior managers or business executives – to be competent in the use of relevant tools; they are also expected to fully grasp the ways in which project management competences can be used to leverage the implementation of corporate strategy.

This short course in Advanced Project Management is designed around the Project Management Institute’s (PMI) Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBoK). It will equip you with the intermediate to advanced level knowledge you need to meaningfully contribute to the conceptualisation, planning, execution, monitoring and evaluation of project performance, within the context of any corporate strategy.
This course assumes a background knowledge of the basic concepts and processes of project management, and focuses on their applications and the conceptualisation of innovative solutions to the challenges that face organisations. It is designed to promote continuous professional development (CPD) as well as meet the content requirements for PMI’s professional examinations, notably CAPM ™ and PMP ™.
It is suitable for students who need to enhance their project planning, execution, control and leadership competencies to the levels needed for large projects with higher levels of complexities. It is also suitable for project management professionals who want to earn continuous professional development points.

OUTCOMES

On successful completion of this short course, you will be able to apply the knowledge you have acquired in practical situations as a member of large projects, or as the leader of small- to medium-sized projects. You will also be able to create a Project Charter and develop the Project Scope and Plan, and will be able to demonstrate skills in the following areas:

  • project risk management
