North-West University Absa BMI bursaries
General Information
- The Absa BMI bursary is only available for studies in BMI and Actuarial Science as presented on the Potchefstroom and Vaal Triangle Campuses of the NWU.
- The Absa BMI bursary programme is managed by the Absa BMI bursary committee with support from the Centre for BMI on the Potchefstroom campus of the NWU.
Information for First Year Students
Application process
- Prospective first year students, who have already passed grade 12, may apply only if he/she has passed Gr12 within the previous two years.
- Application must be done on the bursary application as available on the BMI Website, click here.
- Application open 1st of May and closes on the 30th of November of each year.
- Application form must be sent with copies of final Gr11 marks, latest Gr12 marks if available and 2 page CV in English.
Selection Process
- All application information will be added to a list of applicants as and when received. The application process will only be completed once the Gr12 final exam results have become available.
- Applicants who have already passed Gr12 are requisted to wait for the Gr12 results to become available so that all applications can be processed using the same Gr12 exam results.
- Absa will use this list to contact the applicants via e-mail to complete Absa’s psychometric tests via the internet.
- Please submit your final 2012 exam results to the Centre for BMI (Thys.Cronje@nwu.ac.za) as soon as is has become available.
- Please contact the Centre (Thys.Cronje@nwu.ac.za) if you do not require the bursary anymore, as a courtesy to the other applicants.
- A shortlist of candidates will be compiled and those who have not yet completed the psychometric tests will be invited to do the tests at the Potchefstroom campus of the NWU.
- After the results of the psychometrics test have been processed, an interview list of candidates will be compiled who will be invited to attend an interview with Absa at the Potchefstroom campus of the NWU.
- After completion of the interviews the candidates will be individually informed about the outcome of the interview.
Absa BMI bursary application information for students already in the BMI programmes
- Absa will decide if there are additional bursaries available in any given year.
- The availability of such bursaries will be advertised in March for a given year.
- Application must be done on the bursary application form as available on the BMI Website, click here.
- No additional information will be needed as a full academic record will be obtained by the Centre for BMI.
- A shortlist of candidates will be invited to write Absa’s psychometric test via the internet.
- After the results of the psychometrics test have been processed a shortlist of candidates will be compiled who will be invited to attend an interview with Absa at the Potchefstroom campus of the NWU.
- After completion of the interviews the candidates will be individually informed about the outcome of the interview.
