African Relish
African Relish is owned by Philip and Lisa Key. The concept of having a rural cooking school in the Karoo was born on a visit to Provence, France in 2003. General manager Virna van der Walt, Chef Camilla Comins and the wonderful team pictured above are responsible for making the school what it is today. Philip and Lisa have spent most of their lives in the film, design and marketing world and live in Cape Town.
African Relish runs two basic cooking course types throughout the year. Our Anytime cooking courses such as Karoo Classics or Vegetarian are half or full day classes. Most of all classes are easy to book on short notice. Scheduled classes fall on specific dates along with masterclass weekend courses with invited chefs such as Neil Jewell and Stef Marais. Courses can also be part of longer culinary and special interest retreats like our popular Cycle tour or Yoga retreat.
