Postgraduate Diploma in Accounting at UWC

The Post Graduate Diploma in Accounting (PGDA) is a one-year programme that prepares students for the Initial Test of Competence (ITC) or the Board 1 examination set by the South African Institute of Chartered Accountants (SAICA). The Postgraduate Diploma in Accounting is a distance programme supported by lectures.

Admission Requirements

To be considered for admission, applicants must meet the following minimum
requirements:

Candidates must be in possession of a 360 credits qualification at NQF level 7 or equivalent in any cognate discipline.

A minimum of three years of working experience in the health or welfare sector is required.

A candidate may be admitted in terms of RPL with relevant experience, in accordance with Rule A.2.1.4 and approval of the Senate.

Additional supporting documents may be required by the University from time to time.

Selection – As only a limited number of students can be admitted to the programme, applicants will be subject to a selection procedure.

Can I become a CA with a diploma in accounting?

No, the Advanced Diploma does not make you eligible to apply for the Post Graduate Diploma in Accounting Sciences. What are the options if a National Diploma student wishes to become a CA? Should a student wish to become a CA after their National Diploma, they will get credits for some of their first-year subjects.
