HOSPITALITY MANAGEMENT

ND: (National Diploma) 

To meet the demanding standards of the industry, the course covers a wide spectrum of subjects. Emphasis is on practice supported by theory. Students work in well equipped food laboratories, as well as in the Cape Town Hotel School training kitchen, to prepare and serve meals in the restaurant that is open seven days a week. A well-known wine association teaches practical knowledge of wines, cocktails and the correct serving, after which a certificate is awarded.

 

Career Opportunities
This course is offered for men and women who are interested in pursuing a career as a chef in any hospitality related environment.

HOSPITALITY MANAGEMENT

BTech: (Baccalaureus Technologiae) 

Students are educated and trained as future managers in the hospitality industry. The emphasis is on efficient management, backed by a thorough practical knowledge of the hospitality industry. Practical training is strongly supported by academic courses in Hospitality Management, Hospitality Law, Accounting, Hospitality Management Studies and Hospitality Practice. Students are expected to work in the restaurant connected to the School, under supervision and with the necessary guidance. In this way students will gain valuable experience in the different aspects of food and beverage preparation and service.

 

Career Opportunities
Graduates usually start their careers at supervisory or assistant management level, rapidly moving to managerial positions. They can choose from a wide range of hospitality work environments, such as hotels, catering companies, conference and leisure centres, restaurants, cruise liners, tourism offices and specialised financial firms.

This course ensures that students are educated as future managers in the hospitality industry. The emphasis is on efficient management, backed by a thorough practical knowledge of the hospitality industry. Emphasis is on sufficient practical supported by theory and the student will be working in well equipped culinary laboratories as well as in the Cape Town Hotel School training kitchen.

This course is offered for men and women who are interested in making accommodation service management their profession – whether a hotel or boutique hotel.

NSC Rating 4. English Rating 4. Student with a Science subject (Physical Science, Biology or Hospitality and Tourism, Home Economics) will be considered and Mathematics, Mathematical Literacy or Accounting will be a recommendation. Students with exposure to the hospitality industry will be beneficial. Certified copies of NSC must be presented on registration.
