Bursaries

Sugar Industry Trust Fund for Education

Six bursaries are awarded annually and each covers 75% of the Diploma-year Cedara College costs and 75% of the SASEX Senior Agricultural Certificate Course. Allowance is made at the beginning of the academic year for these bursary students to attend the SASEX course held at Mt. Edgecombe. Applications close at mid-year each year for the following academic year (exact closing date is as per the application form).
Students who have completed their Higher Certificate and will not be continuing into the Diploma and Diploma students in the forthcoming academic year may apply. Preference will however be given to those students who register for the Diploma in Agriculture.

Selection criteria:

  • Applicants must have passed their second-year mid-year examinations.
  • Applicants need to be South African citizens, with a direct link to the sugar industry.
  • Preference will be given to students with a rural affiliation and who would consider pursuing a career in rural regions.
  • Participation and contribution to campus and community life will be favourably considered.
