Acting Vice-Chancellor and PrincipalProf. Henk de Jager has 28 years’ experience in Higher Education in South Africa, of which 12 years as Executive Dean in the field of Engineering and Technology. He held the position as Deputy Vice-Chancellor: Academic and Research at the Central University of Technology effective from 1 July 2012 until 31 December 2024. The position was re-envisioned to become the Deputy Vice-Chancellor: Research, Innovation and Engagement his official portfolio. He holds an MDipTech in Electrical Engineering; BA (Industrial Psychology); PGDip (Tertiary Education); and a DTech (Education Management). Deputy Vice-Chancellor: Teaching and LearningProf. David Phathabantu Ngidi joined the Central University of Technology, Free State (CUT) as Dean of the Faculty of Humanities on 1 July 2010.  Before joining CUT, Professor Ngidi was working for the University of Zululand (1995-2010). When he left the University of Zululand Professor Ngidi was the of Head Of Department, a position he held from 2002 to 2010 and Deputy Dean in the Faculty of Education, a position he held in 2004 and from 2007 to 2010. Dr Nothemba Mrwetyana

RegistrarDr Nothemba (Pinky) Mrwetyana has 32 years’ experience in Higher Education in South Africa, of which she served two 5-year periods as Registrar at the University of Fort Hare.  She assumed duties as the Registrar of the Central University of Technology, Free Sate (CUT) on 01 September 2013. She holds a BA (History and Anthropology majors); UED (English and History Methods); BEd; and MEd (Instructional Technology) from the University of Fort Hare; an MEd (Curriculum Studies:  History) from Rhodes University; and a PhD (Technology in Education) from the University of Natal.  She is currently completing modules towards the Master’s Degree in Business Leadership at the University of South Africa (UNISA)…Read more

Mahube Betty Molemela (née Eister) was born and raised in Bloemfontein. The Council

The University Council is the highest decision-making body at Central University of Technology, Free State and consists of twenty-five members. Sixty percent (60%) of the members are external members.

Institutional Forum

The Institutional Forum (IF) was established to address the challenges facing CUT in the changing Higher Education Environment. The IF must ensure that the institution succeeds in stimulating, directing and using the creative and intellectual energies of the broader CUT community. The IF integrates the institutional responsibilities of academic and executive management, which is to provide strategic analysis and appropriate institutional policy and procedural advice to the Council, the Principal/Vice-Chancellor, Senate and the Management Committee of CUT.

The Senate

The Senate is the primary forum in CUT for the discussion and resolution of academic matters and for developing for transmission to Council policies and procedures on academic aspects and implications of any business coming before the Council.

The Management Committee

The Management Committee (MANCOM), comprising of top management staff members, functions in an advisory capacity to the Principal/Vice-Chancellor. The main function of the MANCOM is to advise on any matter referred to it by the Principal/Vice-Chancellor and on any matter referred to it by a member, in consultation with the Vice-Chancellor, as well as the management of projects.
