IT Essentials: PC Hardware and Software
The curriculum provides a hands-on, career-oriented e-learning solution to the computer hardware and software skills needed for entry-level information and communication technology (ICT) professionals. The fundamentals of PC technology, networking and security are covered, as well as an introduction to advanced concepts.
Students who complete this course will be able to describe the internal components of a computer, assemble a computer system, install an operating system, and do troubleshooting.
The curriculum helps students prepare for entry-level ICT career opportunities. IT essential is a pathway to the CCNA and CCNA Security curricula.
Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) Certification
This popular networking certification tests a network administrator’s ability to set up, and maintain network systems. The CCNA curriculum also validates the ability to install, configure and troubleshoot medium-size route and switched networks, including the implementation and verification of connections to remote sites in a WAN. It includes basic mitigation of security threats; introduction to wireless networking concepts, terminology, and performance-based skills. It also includes protocols like IP, EIGRP, Frame Relay, RIP, VLAN, ACLs and more.
CCNA assesses student’s comprehensive understanding of networking fundamentals and the skills required for positions such as a Network Specialist or Associate Network Engineer.
The curriculum helps students prepare for more advanced training such as Security.
Cisco Certified Network Associate Certification (CCNA Security)
CCNA Security validates the knowledge and skills required to secure Cisco networks. You will be able to develop a security infrastructure, recognize threats and vulnerabilities to networks, and mitigate security threats. The focus is on core security technologies, like the installation, troubleshooting, and monitoring of network devices that maintains integrity, confidentiality and availability of data and devices.
