Engineering Training
Engineering Training is provided in the trades listed in the table below. Full apprenticeship training for Section 16 apprentices as well as gap-fill training for Section 28 apprentices is offered. In addition each trade has a range of courses that are offered, which cover specific areas of the discipline and these courses are suitable for cross-skilling and maintenance-worker training.
The Shukela Training Centre is a Decentralised Trade Test Centre and has qualified assessors and moderators.
The revision of the Skills Development Act (2012) places institutions like Shukela Training Centre under the Quality Council for Trades and Occupations within the Department if Higher Education and Training. In terms of legislation, STC is accredited by AgriSETA, with programme approval with MERSETA, CHIETA, EWSETA, MQA and CETA. The STC is the preferred provider for the Electrical Contractor’s Association (ECA) in Kwa Zulu Natal.
