FIRE FIGHTING TRAINING

A learner credited with this unit standard will be capable of identifying, containing, preventing and extinguishing different types of fires by operating basic firefighting equipment. This module will cover all the requirement laid down by SACAA regulations.
The qualifying learner will be capable of:

  • Identifying different types of fires
  • Explaining and practicing fire prevention
  • Operating basic firefighting equipment
  • Perform basic firefighting procedures

Course Outline:

  • Identifying and solving problems in which responses display that responsible decisions using critical and creative thinking have been made in applying basic firefighting techniques.
  • Working effectively with others as member of the team in communicating with all role-players and ensuring safe practices in applying firefighting techniques.
  • Organising and managing oneself and one’s activities responsibly while applying safety requirements when fighting fires.
  • Communicating effectively by using language skills in the modes of oral and/or written persuasion in interpreting instructions, signs and signals when applying firefighting techniques
  • Using science and technology effectively and critically, showing responsibility towards the environment and safety of others by demonstrating an understanding of safety relating to applying firefighting techniques.

Course Entry Requirements

  • When attending this course while undertaking the cabin crew member licensing programme the course entry requirements will be the same as those for initial training
  • A flight crew members licence for licensed crew members
