Level 4 in Home Language (English) OR Level 3 in Mathematics
PROMOTION REQUIREMENTS FOR GRADES 4 – 6
- Learners must pass all 3 of these subjects with percentage criteria specified:
- Home Language (English) 50% or more
- First Additional Language (Afrikaans) 40% or more
- Mathematics 40% or more
- Learners must meet the following percentage criteria for other subjects: 40% or more in any 2 remaining subjects: Social Sciences; Life Skills; Natural Sciences and Technology.
- Should a learner fall short on any of the above percentage criteria for the specified subjects, they will not be promoted.
PROMOTION REQUIREMENTS FOR GRADE 7
- Learners must pass all 3 of these subjects with percentage criteria specified:
- Home Language (English) 50% or more
- First Additional Language (Afrikaans) 40% or more
- Mathematics 40% or more
- Learners must meet the following percentage criteria for other subjects: 40% or more in 3 subjects 30% or more in 2 subjects Other subjects include: Social Sciences Life Orientation Technology Natural Sciences EMS Creative Arts
- Should a learner not achieve on any of the above percentage criteria for the specified subjects, they will not be promoted.

These plans are subject to change without prior notice but should provide a good guideline to assist parents to see how and when their child/ren will be assessed.
HOW PROMOTION MARKS ARE CALCULATED AT THE END OF THE YEAR.
Grade 4 – 6 SBA Mark (School Bases Assessment) (Term 1 – 3) 75% + Term 4 Exam Mark 25% = Year End Promotion Mark
Grade 7 SBA Mark (School Bases Assessment) (Term 1 – 3) 40% + Term 4 Exam Mark 60% = Year End Promotion Mark
