What is Diamonds?
Diamond is a solid form of the element carbon with its atoms arranged in a crystal structure called diamond cubic.
At room temperature and pressure, another solid form of carbon known as graphite is the chemically stable form of carbon, but diamond converts to it extremely slowly.
We’re going to quote on some of the most common “traditional white” diamond size enquiries, with a variety of colours, clarities and shapes.

Are diamonds from South Africa?
Diamonds. Ever since the Kimberley diamond strike of 1868, South Africa has been a world leader in diamond production.
The primary South African sources of diamonds, including seven large diamond mines around the country, are controlled by the De Beers Consolidated Mines Company.
Where do we find diamond in South Africa?
The Finsch mine in the Northern Cape opened in 1967. Alluvial diamonds and small diamondiferous fissures have been known and worked for many years along the southern banks of the Orange River as well as along and off South Africa’s west coast.
Does South Africa still produce diamonds?
South Africa however remains a significant diamond producer. In fact, the country set a new record for diamond production in 2005 (15.8 million carats valued at an estimated $1.7 billion).
Diamonds are still mined from all three source types, viz., kimberlite, alluvial and marine sources.
What Rocks are diamonds found in?
Diamond is only formed at high pressures. It is found in kimberlite, an ultrabasic volcanic rock formed very deep in the Earth’s crust.
Why does South Africa have so many diamonds?
Diamonds in Africa were formed somewhere between 600 million and 3 billion years ago when titanic-force pressure and heat caused carbon 1,200 miles (1,931 km) below the Earth’s surface to crystallize.
As recently as a million years ago, erupting molten rock brought the diamonds closer to the Earth’s surface.
