African Relish Scheduled Courses
“Learn from the best”. We invite local and foreign chefs to African Relish for the weekend so you get to learn from the best. Neil Jewell’s charcuterie masterclass is a firm favourite as is Reza Mahammad’s Indian version of Kudu and Quince. Stefan Marais from Societe Bistro, Reuben Riffel from Reuben’s in Franschhoek, Jacques Erasmus from Hemelhuijs, Ciro from Ciro’s Culinaro in Johannesburg all have loyal followings. Chef Jason Whitehead aka the “Rabbit Ambassador” and food blogger and photographer Nina Timm will join the lineup in 2026. Also watch the space for other celebrity chefs soon to follow to the likes of Bertus Basson from Overture in the Hidden Valley, Michelin star chef Jan Hendrik van der Westhuizen and Karen Dudley from The Kitchen in Woodstock .
Culinary Retreats
Escape Cycle Tours alternate cycling up the Swartberg Pass with hilarity in the kitchen and gourmet breakfasts in Die Hel, the tour come back three times a year. African Relish works with Book Clubs, Yoga Masters and artists to arrange weeks of painting and cooking, exercising and hosts master classes with invited authors.
