Institute of Management Accounting and Strategy How To Start
Anyone can study CIMA, whether you’re new to business and accounting or already have some experience. The only requirements are competence in Mathematics and the English language. If you completed your Matric with Maths Literacy in South Africa, you are also welcome to enrol with us.
If you hold a relevant degree or qualification you may be exempted from certain subjects in the Certificate in Business Accounting and CIMA Professional Qualification
Choose your route
I’m about to complete matric or already has matric
As a matriculant, you start CIMA by studying the CIMA Certificate in Business Accounting, which will give you a solid grounding in the fundamentals of management accounting. The certificate is a standalone qualification as well as being the stepping stone to the CIMA Professional Qualification.
– In order to register for the Certificate in Business Accounting, you require a pass in English and Mathematics or 50% in Maths Literacy. For those students that are looking for bursaries, you are encouraged to excel on your studies to enhance your chances of obtaining a bursary. I’m a graduate
If you hold any accredited or relevant accounting, finance or business qualification, You may be eligible for exemptions from the CIMA Certificate in Business Accounting or from certain exams within the CIMA Professional Qualification.
