International Academy Hairdressing Courses
Our full time course runs for a year, during which you will need to attend classes from Tuesday to Friday, and then also every alternate Saturday. Saturdays are dedicated to case study work and practical experience within our own salon.
Our part time option requires you to attend class once a week, and then work in an accredited salon for the remainder of the week. This part time course runs for three years, but allows you to earn money whilst studying.
At the end of your one to three years, an Itec qualification is obtainable. However, you, along with your fellow hairdressing course students, will then be required to fill a 24 month apprenticeship position in any accredited hair salon in South Africa, or even on-board a luxury cruise liner. Hereafter, trade tests will take place, whereupon you will receive your national certificate, provided that you meet the required criteria.
International Academy Hair salons and Accredited Salons
At the International Academy, we run a fully operational hair salon offering a variety of treatments to the general public. It is here where our hairdressing course students come to perform case study work and to gain practical experience with hairdressing equipment. Many of our students work on our public clients. This will really assist you in, understanding and preparing, for what general hairdressing jobs in the real world are like.
When it comes to our students doing hairdressing courses part time, as well as our 24 month apprenticeship, we request that you only work at our accredited hair salons. These are salons which meet the highest standards.
Why the International Academy Tops Other Hairdressing Schools
Firstly, the International academy offers you much needed practical experience with top-end hairdressing equipment, within a real-life hairdressing environment. This makes it far easier for you to secure hairdressing jobs once completing your hairdressing course with us.
Our hairdressing course qualification is accredited by Services Seta ETQA and provisionally registered with the apartment of education as a private further education and training college.
Many of our students go on to do hair on film sets, continue with Steiner contracts and even own their own salons.
