ABOUT THE BURSAR
Mintek is a proudly South African provider of mineral processing and metallurgical engineering products and services, founded in 1934. To give back to the South African community, Mintek is offering bursary programmes to enable financially disadvantages students to pursue their tertiary education – in line with Mintek’s business sector.
ABOUT THE BURSARY
Bursaries will be awarded to students within one of the following fields of study (Undergraduate/ Honors degrees or B.Tech diplomas):
- Chemical Engineering
- Electrical Engineering
- Mechanical Engineering
- Mining Engineering
- Geology
- Chemistry
- Physics
- Physical Metallurgy / Materials Science
- Mathematics
The following expenses will be covered by the bursary scheme: tuition, registration, meals and accommodation, as well as a R15 000 allowance per year.
The bursary will cover the full duration of the prescribed qualification, on condition that the student passes the required modules and adheres to the Mintek bursary rules.
Students will also be required to partake in vacation work at the end of each year, for which they will receive payment. On completion of their studies, students must work for Mintek for a duration equal to that of their bursary award.
ELIGIBILITY
Applicants must satisfy the following minimum entry criteria before applying:
- South African citizen,
- Satisfy university entrance criteria,
- Accepted to study full-time at a recognised South African university,
- Current tertiary students must be studying in one of the aforementioned fields, have a minimum average of 60% and not have failed any subjects.
(Please note that Mintek bursaries are not applicable to first year students or those studying a National Diploma).
