Morningstar Flight Academy PPL Ground School

The PPL (Private Pilots Licence) Ground School consists of 8 theory subjects which are lectured in a classroom. A student will only receive his/her PPL once all the subjects have been passed. The class times as well as the number of hours are adjusted by the flight school to facilitate the group or students schedule.
The PPL Ground School consists of the following subjects:

Air Law (NOT LECTURED – SELF STUDY)

Learning about the rules and regulations associated with flying.

Aircraft Technical (LECTURES OPTIONAL)

A detailed insight into the various components that make up the aircraft you fly.

Principals of Flight (ON-GOING GROUND BRIEFINGS / COMPULSORY)

This subject uncovers the magic of aerodynamics and the various factors which keep us airborne.

Human Performance (LECTURES OPTIONAL)

Looking at and understanding our limitations as humans in relation to flying.

Meteorology (LECTURES OPTIONAL)

Weather makes the sky an all changing environment. Here you will learn about weather patterns and how it influences flying.

Flight Planning (LECTURES COMPULSORY)

Knowing how long you can stay airborne with your available fuel is critical. This subject offers an understanding of aircraft performance.

Navigation (LECTURES COMPULSORY)

Finding your way from point A to point B.

Radio (LECTURES COMPULSORY)

Learn to use the correct language and phrases when communicating with other pilots and the ATC (Air traffic control).
