ABOUT THE BURSAR

Murray & Roberts is arguably, the leading engineering, construction and contracting company across South Africa, primarily focused on various construction markets, including oil & gas, power & energy and industry & mining.
The services offered by Murray & Roberts includes: civil, electrical, mechanical, mining and process engineering, building and construction, as well as service and supply of materials to the construction industry.

ABOUT THE BURSARY

The bursary is available from second year of study only (no first year bursaries) and will cover the following expenses: annual registration, tuition, examination fees, prescribed textbooks, accommodation and meals.

Bursaries are reviewed each semester (after exams) and based on academic performance, renewed annually. The bursaries are awarded on academic merit, but preference is previously disadvantage racial groups.
There is a work-back obligation with this bursary award, whereby students must work at Murray & Roberts for the equal duration of their bursary award.
Bursaries will be awarded for the following fields of study (BSc/ B Eng/ B Tech qualifications):

  • Civil Engineering
  • Electrical Engineering
  • Industrial Engineering
  • Mechanical Engineering
  • Mining Engineering
  • Quantity Surveying
  • Building/ Construction Management

ELIGIBILITY

Students must meet the following minimum criteria before submitting an application:

  • South African citizen or permanent resident,
  • Studying full-time, in one of the aforementioned fields of study, at a recognised South African university,
  • Have a Matric/ Grade 12 exemption certificate with Science and Mathematics,
  • Able to provide current academic results,
  • Accepted by the tertiary institution.
