Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University – Human Resources Department
Human Resources Management is concerned with all the decisions, strategies, practices and functions relating to the management of people as employees in any organisation.
Human Resources is concerned with the recruitment, selection, testing and placing of staff in an organisation. Human Resources also entails the responsibility for employing the right people and that these people are effectively trained and developed.
It also deals with the problems and grievances of the work force, including the important and interesting field of management and trade union relations.
All the larger organisations, whether providing a serice to the public or producing consumer goods, have a Human Resources Department. The demand for Human Resources Managers is on the increase, because of the serious shortage of skilled and trained workers being experienced in South Africa.
