Overview
The Law Clinic situated at the Missionvale Campus is a full-fledged Legal Aid Office which is set up and managed as far as possible on the pattern of an attorney’s office.
The Law Clinic’s aim is not only to provide free legal services to people in need, but it also offers exciting opportunities for the training of law students. The Clinic exposes students to the concept of community service; the dire need for access to justice by the poor and the possibilities of contributing to the general public welfare.
Law Clinic’s principal functions are:
- To provide practical legal training to final year Law students
- To provide legal services to the indigent members of society
- To provide training to Candidate Attorneys

The Law Clinic is a full-fledged Legal Aid Office which is set up and managed as far as possible on the pattern of an attorney’s office.The Clinic is situated at the Missionvale Campus of the Nelson Mandela Metropolitan in Missionvale, Port Elizabeth.
Legal services, owing to their costs, have become inaccessible to a large part of the South African population. In Port Elizabeth and environs the need for these services are immense.
The Law Clinic’s aim is not only to provide free legal services to needy people, but it also offers exiting opportunities for the training of law students. The lack of practical training and knowledge of students has for your years been a source of concern to all interested in the training of law students. By not merely imitating the workings of an attorney’s office, but by being one, the Law Clinic has a purpose of making good this deficiency.
The Law Clinic also exposes students to the concept of community service and the want therefore, the dire need for access to justice by the poor and the possibilities of contributing to the general public welfare.
The clinic strives to assist law graduates from previously disadvantaged communities to qualify as attorneys.
