Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University People With Disabilities Library Usage

Physical access differ from campus to campus, but all campus libraries have dedicated workstations for disabled users. Please consult the sections below for specific details and contact names.
Resources:
- All electronic resources (ebooks, databases, journals and articles) are available online, on- and off-campus.
- Textbooks can be read onto tape (via The South African Library for the Blind) on request.
2nd Avenue Campus
Physical Access
- There are ramps at the side entrance and front entrance of the library.
- There is a lift available for disabled users.
Workstations
- There are four dedicated computers (wheelchair friendly) on the first floor.
- ZoomText software is available from all the computers in the library.
- Special keyboards with large icons for visually impaired users, a dedicated scanner, printer and magnifier to enlarge the pages of a whole book, are available.

George Campus
Physical Access

- The library only has a ground floor.

Physical Access
- There is a ramp leading to the library entrance.
- There is a lift for disabled users.
- If students need to go to the first floor or basement, they may use the lift in the outside passage and may also ask to be assisted by any librarian.

- There are four dedicated (wheelchair friendly) computers on the ground floor.
- The computers are linked to printers.
- ZoomText software is available from all the computers in the library.
- Special keyboards with large icons for visually impaired users, a dedicated scanner, printer and magnifier to enlarge the pages of a whole book, are available.

Physical Access
- There is a ramp leading to the library entrance.
- There is a ramp to the side entrance (Architecture) to the basement.
- The side access doors on the first and ground floors will be opened for disabled users.

- There is a magnifier in the Government Publications section and one at the workstations on the ground floor.
- ZoomText software is available from all the computers in the library.
