ABOUT THE BURSAR
Palabora Mining Company Limited is the sole producer of refined copper within South Africa, and has been operation since 1956. The company headquarters are situated in Phalaborwa, within Limpopo, RSA.
Palabora have initiated a bursary programme to assist Engineering students with funding to pursue their tertiary studies.
ABOUT THE BURSARY
Bursaries will be awarded to students within the following fields of study:
- Chemical Engineering
- Electrical Engineering
- Mechanical Engineering
- Mining Engineering
- Metallurgical Engineering
- Science
The bursary will cover the following expenses: tuition fees, accommodation at university residence (or accommodation allowance), personal allowance: R5 000 for university students & R4 000 for university of technology students.
Students will be required to undertake vacation work during university holidays, as specified by Palabora Mining. And on completion of their studies, students are required to partake in a service contract with Palabora Mining.
ELIGIBILITY
Applicants must satisfy the following minimum entry criteria before applying:
- South African citizen,
- Currently in Matric or have completed Matric,
- Achieved a minimum āCā symbol for Matric Science and Mathematics,
- Intend on studying in one of the aforementioned fields of study,
- Will undertake studies at a recognised university or university of technology within South Africa.
