CERTIFICATE IN GRAPHIC DESIGN
This programme will equip you with the design thinking and application skills to embark on a career as a Graphic Designer.
You will also learn the necessary software (Adobe Acrobat, Photoshop, Illustrator and Indesign),
illustration, presentation and time-management skills that are necessary to start a successful career in this field.

CERTIFICATE IN GRAPHIC DESIGN What you learn

We will teach you graphic design for the digital world (web, mobile, social media), as well as more traditional graphic design (such as CI and packaging).
MODULE 1
The Principles and Elements of Graphic Design
You will be taught the theory (composition theory, typography theory and colour theory) and application of each of the elements and principles of design.
MODULE 2
The Design Process
Students will be taught the steps in the design process from understanding the client’s brief to ideation and visualising ideas to analyising the result.
MODULE 3
Applied Illustration Techniques
In this module you will learn the basics of three illustration techniques (line drawing, collage and vector illustration) how to use Adobe Illustrator to create these style of illustrations
MODULE 4
Print Design Techniques
You will learn the basic principles and techniques of logo and identity design.
MODULE 5
Digital Design Techniques
You will learn how to create content for all digital platforms including social media, websites, digital media and mobile.
MODULE 6
Three week internship
You will be placed in a professional agency for three weeks in order to become acquainted with agency working life. You will apply your skills to live client briefs and demonstrate your ability to perform in the workplace for which you have been prepared.
MODULE 7
Portfolio
Finally, you will be taught about different portfolio formats: printed formats, interactive PDF’s and various online formats. You will learn how to best represent your work best in these formats and how to present your work orally.

CERTIFICATE IN GRAPHIC DESIGN How you learn

CERTIFICATE IN GRAPHIC DESIGN Fees & Application

One year Certificate in Graphic Design:
R 49 500 (R47 025.00 upfront payment)
R 990 Registration Fee
Payment Plan
Monthly payments over 11 months: R 4 815.00
The final date for registration and payment of fees for the 2024 course is Tuesday, January 31, 2024. Students who have not paid at least the first installment of their fees by this date will not be eligible to start their course in 2024.
The Red & Yellow School is a privately run organisation and receives no state funding. The majority of income is generated by student fees and remunerations from commissioned projects.
non-refundable registration fee R 990.00 must be paid. This registration fee is to reserve your place on the course and you will forfeit it should you elect not to attend.
Note: The non-refundable registration fee does not form part of the tuition fees. Should you elect not to complete the course, you will be liable for fifty percent of the following semester’s tuition fees. (This is because it is impossible for us to fill a vacancy once the course has begun.)
HOW TO APPLY
Download the relevant skills test from the application page. You will need to complete this skills test in order to apply.
Fill in and sign the enrolment form – you can get this from the application page or from one of our course consultants: registrations@redandyellow.co.za
Once you have completed the skills test and enrolment form you can apply online, email or drop off at the school.
Your complete application must include the following:

  1. Your completed enrollment form & skills test
  2. A certified copy of your ID/passport (for international students)
  3. A certified copy of your matric certificate
