ABOUT THE BURSAR

South African Breweries (SAB) were established in Johannesburg in 1895 as “Castle Breweries”. The aim of the company was to serve the expanding market of miners and prospectors around Johannesburg.
Today, SAB is a brewing and bottling company owned by SABMiller and has a market share of around 89% in South Africa. Over and above the 2 breweries operated by SAB, they are also the largest producer and distributor of CocaCola products in South Africa.

ABOUT THE BURSAR

SAB are focused on helping South African students achieve their career goals by funding their studies. Students are selected based on academic performance and recognised talent and are expected to maintain the level of high academic performance and behavioural conduct throughout the bursary duration.

Chosen students are also given the opportunity to gain work experience via vacation work or summer school. On completion of their studies, bursars are given the option to join the SAB workforce as full-time graduate trainees.
SAB bursaries are available for students within the following fields of study (BSc degree):

  • Chemical Engineering
  • Electrical Engineering
  • Electronic Engineering
  • Industrial Engineering
  • Mechanical Engineering
  • Mechatronics Engineering
  • Food Science
  • Biochemistry
  • Microbiology

ELIGIBILITY

 

  • South African citizen,

 
If currently in Matric:

  • Achieved a minimum average of 75%,
  • Will complete Matric by end of this year.

If currently studying:

  • Studying towards one of the aforementioned qualifications,
  • Achieved a minimum average of 65%,
  • Studying at a recognised tertiary institution,
  • Strong leadership skills.
