ABOUT THE BURSAR

Sasol is an integrated chemical and energy firm, with over 30 000 employees across 37 countries. The now international company, was established in Sasolburg, South Africa in 1950.
Sasol’s bursary programme is known to be one of the best, with its all-inclusive package. Students who are studying full-time in the science, commerce or engineering fields are advised to apply.

ABOUT THE BURSARY

The bursary is for students who are studying within one of the following fields:
Engineering:

  • Chemical Engineering
  • Civil Engineering
  • Computer Engineering
  • Electrical Engineering
  • Electronic Engineering
  • Industrial Engineering
  • Mechanical Engineering
  • Mining Engineering

Science:

  • Chemistry
  • Geology
  • Metallurgy

Commerce:

  • Accounting
  • Economics
  • Law
  • Logistics
  • Supply Chain Management

The bursary will cover the following expenses: registration, tuition, exam fees, meal and accommodation allowance, prescribed book allowance, laptop and calculator allowance.
Over and above the above funding, students will have the opportunity to partake in vacation work from their second year of study (for which they will receive a paid salary). Once graduated, students will also be have the opportunity to be employed by Sasol.

ELIGIBILITY

Applicants must satisfy the following minimum entry criteria before applying:

  • South African citizen,
  • Intend on studying full-time at a recognised South African university (not a college or university of technology),
  • Current students must have passed all subjects in previous study period,

Engineering students:

  • Must have achieved the following marks in Grade 11:
    • A minimum of level 6 (70%) in Physical Science and level 7 (80%) in Mathematics
  • Must have achieved the following marks in Grade 12:
    • A minimum of level 5 (60%) in English, level 6 (70%) in Physical Science and level 7 (80%) in Mathematics.

Science students:

  • Must have achieved the following marks in Grade 11:
    • A minimum of level 6 (70%) in Physical Science and level 7 (80%) in Mathematics
  • Must have achieved the following marks in Grade 12:
    • A minimum of level 5 (60%) in English, level 6 (70%) in Physical Science and level 7 (80%) in Mathematics.

Commerce students:

  • Must have achieved the following marks in Grade 12:
    • A minimum of level 5 (60%) in English and level 5 (60%) in Mathematics,
    • A minimum of level 6 (70%) in Mathematics if you are studying Accounting or Business Science,
    • A minimum of level 5 (60%) in Accounting if you are studying Accounting,
