Art theory practical:

Drawing & Painting
The aim of this subject is to teach individuals to draw and paint and feel confident in using these skills to express themselves.  Learners will gain experience in the various elements of fine art such as  line, shape and the use of positive and negative space.  Learners will learn about tonal range and value, and how to model light and dark tones, how to set up a “still-life”, choose good compositions using a viewfinder, and the relevance of perspective, and space within a composition.
The course is divided adequately to show and describe the processes of creating technique in mediums such as pencil, charcoal, ink, and pen and paint.  With monochromatic (single colour) materials one will learn how to create contrast and form.  Progression through the modules will explore the techniques of colour making use of paints and colour pencils.
By the end of this subject learners will be able to draw and paint confidently using different techniques, be able to render the values of the objects being drawn or painted, choose a composition showing perspective, contrast and space, effectively mix and apply colour using different colour materials and techniques.
