ABOUT THE BURSAR

Founded in Bloemfontein and Cape Town in 1941 and 1942 respectively, The Steel and Engineering Industries Federation of Southern Africa (SEIFSA) is a employer Federation who represent the engineering and metal industry.

ABOUT THE BURSARY

SEIFSA bursaries are intended for undergraduate Engineering students, who have been registered and accepted for an engineering field of study at a South African university or Universities of Technology.
Applicants who intend on studying within the following fields may apply:

  • University of Technology (UoT) Courses, National Diploma in:
    • Electrical Engineering
    • Metallurgical Engineering (Physical Metallurgy)
    • Industrial Engineering
    • Civil Engineering
    • Chemical Engineering
    • Mechanical Engineering
  • University Courses:
    • Electrical Engineering
    • Electronics Engineering
    • Metallurgical Engineering
    • Industrial Engineering
    • Civil Engineering
    • Chemical Engineering
    • Mechanical Engineering
    • Materials Science

The following expenses will be covered by the bursary award: tuition costs (for full-time National Diploma courses only). Bursaries are awarded for one semester, and thereafter renewed based on academic performance. The maximum period of bursary coverage may not exceed the general period of an engineering course at a recognised South African University of Technology (UoT).

Please include the following documentation with your complete application form:

  • Colour photo (passport size),
  • ID document (certified copy),
  • Proof of registration at the tertiary institution,
  • Matric results (certified copy),
  • Transcript of latest results (certified copy),
  • Testimonial from school/ employer/ someone of authority.
