Spero Villioti Elite Design Academy admission or entry requirement
The Spero Villioti Elite Design Academy seeks serious, responsible and highly motivated students with a passion for fashion. There is no admission formula; every applicant is reviewed individually, according to his or her skill, experience, achievements and potential for growth. While the admission process recognises the benefits of strong artistic preparation, it also accepts academically accomplished applicants despite limited art or design experience.
Applicants are required to undergo an interview process by Spero Villioti who will, using a formal admission assessment tool, evaluate each student for potential and fit. Students are required to bring along the required project for assessment.
BACHELOR OF FASHION DEGREE
The minimum admission requirement is a National Senior Certificate (NSC) (or its same/similar standard, e.g. Senior Certificate with endorsement) with a minimum of 30% in English together with an achievement rating of 4 (adequate achievement, i.e. 50% – 59%) or better in four subjects from the designated subject list; Accounting, Agricultural Science, Business Studies, Dramatic Arts, Economics, Engineering Graphics and Design, Geography, History, Consumer Studies, Information Technology, Languages, Life Sciences, Mathematics, Mathematical Literacy, Music, Physical Science, Religion Studies, Visual Arts
In order to be considered for admission to the programme the student will be required to submit proof that they have completed Grade 12 or the equivalent, preferably in the form of:
Once a student is offered a place to study, the place must be secured by paying a non refundable deposit, which is deducted from the student’s school fees the following year. Only once the student has been successfully assessed, been offered a place and paid the deposit, can it be taken that the student will be able to study at the Spero Villioti Elite Design Academy.
DIPLOMA IN FASHION
Eligibility for admission to the Academy’s 3-year full time diploma requires a National Senior Certificate (Grade 12) or its same/similar standard – without endorsement – with a minimum of 30% in English, together with an achievement rating of 3 (40-49%) or better in four recognised NSC subjects.

RECOGNITION OF PRIOR LEARNING
Recognition of Prior Learning is the comparison of previous learning and experience that a student has obtained against the learning outcomes of a specific qualification, and the acceptance thereof for purposes of certification. This is conducted through a comparison of obtained and recognized competencies against the competence requirements, both theoretical and practical in nature, of a recognized qualification or part thereof, and the recognition of both learning and experience, not based on only historical evidence but also on the validity, authenticity and currency of competencies of an applicant.
In the recognition of prior learning, Spero Villioti Elite Design Academy will consider learning and experience obtained through formal education and training as well as knowledge and competencies obtained through practical experience and learning.
It is also the purpose of RPL to provide access to further learning through the recognition of prior learning and to facilitate redress. These purposes include the following options to the candidate:
Service and support to students form part of the pre-assessment advice and counseling within the context of the student centeredness of the RPL process. Counseling is provided towards the preparation of assessment, educational planning and post assessment support. Support is provided by RPL Advisory staff, registered and trained as assessors for the area of learning where RPL takes place.
LANGUAGE POLICY
The Spero Villioti Elite Design Academy recognises the diversity and equality of the eleven official languages used by the population groups in South Africa and the associated protection of the equality of the official languages as embedded in the Constitution of the Republic of South Africa.
As English is regarded and generally accepted as an international medium for business communication, the Organisation utilised English as the primary mode of instruction, communication and record keeping as it relates to all operational activities in the organisation.
Pursuant to the institution’s stated language policy, all students admitted to the learning programmes must demonstrate proficiency in written and spoken English at a minimum of the first additional language level.
