National Benchmark Tests
ALL the prospective students who apply to study at University of Fort Hare in 2011 are required write the National Benchmark Tests as part of the admission process. The National benchmark Tests are used to inform student placement decisions, curriculum development and academic support programmes. A student’s admission status will be incomplete without having written the NBTs.
There are two tests. Each test has a time allocation of three hours. The first test is the Academic and Quantitative Literacy (AQL) Test and the second test is a Mathematics Test also called the Cognitive Academic Mathematical Proficiency (CAMP) Test. All prospective applicants will be required to write the Academic & Quantitative Literacy Test (AQL). Prospective applicants to the following Faculties will be required to write the Mathematics Test (CAMP): Faculty of Science and Agriculture Faculty of Management and Commerce.

The LLB is now the only qualification acceptable for admission into the legal profession either as an attorney or advocate. The requirements that a person seeking admission to study for the degree must meet depends on the qualification that the person currently holds and the LLB degree option that the person wishes to pursue.
There are presently five LLB degree options available at Fort Hare and they are as follows:
