University of Fort Hare Faculty Of Law Entry Requirement

 

Entry Requirements

  • National Benchmark Tests [NBT]
  • Matric with endorsement,
  • Mature age 23 & up .
  • Age Exemption 45 & up.

In some programmes, good school leaving certificates may be considered.
National Benchmark Tests
ALL the prospective students who apply to study at University of Fort Hare in 2011 are required write the National Benchmark Tests as part of the admission process. The National benchmark Tests are used to inform student placement decisions, curriculum development and academic support programmes. A student’s admission status will be incomplete without having written the NBTs.
There are two tests. Each test has a time allocation of three hours. The first test is the Academic and Quantitative Literacy (AQL) Test and the second test is a Mathematics Test also called the Cognitive Academic Mathematical Proficiency (CAMP) Test. All prospective applicants will be required to write the Academic & Quantitative Literacy Test (AQL). Prospective applicants to the following Faculties will be required to write the Mathematics Test (CAMP): Faculty of Science and Agriculture Faculty of Management and Commerce.

DOCUMENTS REQUIRED

  1. Each application for admission must be accompanied by the following:
  2. Certified copy of matriculation, Senior Certificate or equivalent;
  3. Certified copy of Identity Document and marriage certificate or decree of divorce for different surnames;
  4. Transcript of academic record and certificate of conduct in respect of studies completed at any other higher education institution;
  5. Certified copy of certificates, diplomas or degrees previously obtained;
  6. For conditional or mature age exemption, submit in person all original documents listed above;
  7. Study permit and/or proof of permanent residence, must be submitted by all foreign applicants.
  8. Salary advice of person responsible for the payment of all tuition fees.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Where there are more eligible applicants than places available the University may, in accordance with procedures as approved by the Senate, select students on the basis of academic achievement, as well as on their potential to contribute to the educational environment and intellectual vitality of the institution.

Faculty Selection Committees will consider applications on their own merit and in competition with others, and may take into account examinations already passed, predicted grades in forthcoming examinations, personal statements and academic references.
