Undergraduate
Important information
- Applicants may only apply for two study choices. These study choices may not be amended once they have been chosen.

The University of Johannesburg requires all undergraduate entrants to write the National Benchmark Test (NBT). Moreinformation as to dates, venues, tests, registration, and costs is available from the NBT website www.uj.ac.za/nbt

If you are currently re-writing a South African Grade 12, please note that we can only process your application on thecurrent results we have available. If Grade 12 has been written more than once then your combined results must beuploaded at the end of your application process.

If you are currently in your final year of study outside the borders of the Republic of South Africa then unfortunately youcannot apply for the 2024 application cycle.

Applicants will only be able to apply for a study visa upon the receipt of an admission letter from the University ofJohannesburg.

International applicants currently studying towards a South Africa Grade 12 may be requested to provide certified copiesof final Grade 11 results for verification and auditing purposes.

Final school-leaving results (applicants who have completed High School/Secondary Education) must be submitted withapplication.

Diploma applicants are required to apply with their final school-leaving results and an exemption certificate from HESA isnot required.
Checklist for applying
- Valid email address (Gmail or Yahoo mail account).
- Have the requirements for study choices been met (see prospectus).
- If residence is required then a deposit of R1220 must be paid.
- Exemption confirmation from HESA (Matriculation Board of South Africa) for applicants applying towards a degree.
- Certified and individually scanned documents (see process below).
- Document upload requirements when applying online (not applicable to or internal transfer/Senior applicants):
- All documents must be certified
- When uploading documents, ensure that the scanned file is a maximum of 512KB, and that all documents are scanned in any of the following types – tiff, pdf, jpg or gif
- Each document must be scanned and uploaded as separate attachments
- Alternatively, documents can be emailed to ujappdocs@listsrv.uj.ac.za with the provisional reference/student number noted in the subject line of the email.

Postgraduate
Important Information
- B Tech qualifications form part of this category.
- Applicants may apply for a minimum of one and a maximum of four applications. These study choices may not be amended once they have been chosen.
- Before you submit your online application and upload/email documents, please visit the relevant faculty/department website to confirm additional documentation that may be required e.g. departmental application form, CV, motivation, thesis etc.
- Contact Student Accommodation should you require more information regarding residence.
- The application fee is not required if you have previously applied and you are in possession of a student number. This is also applicable if you are applying to transfer into another qualification.
- Honours, Masters and Doctorate applications towards Clinical and Counselling Psychology are requested to apply directly to the Department.
