Zip Zap Circus School was founded in Cape Town in 1992, to inspire young people and help build a new culture of peaceful coexistence in South Africa. Working with a diverse community of children from all backgrounds, Zip Zap helps kids to ‘dare to dream’ and learn to make those dreams a reality.
Zip Zap’s programs are all free to participants, with financial and material support coming from individuals, organisation, corporations and foundations.
Job Title: School Programmes Coordinator
Job Location: Zip Zap Academy in Salt River, Cape Town
Remuneration: Based on experience, yearly performance based review
Responsibilities:
- Implement the school vision and focus of Zip Zap
- Ongoing programmatic, logistical, and financial management of Zip Zap’s youth programmes
- Management, training, monitoring, evaluation and support of teaching staff to ensure that youth programmes are in alignment with established work plans and meet contractual deliverables
- Manage the purchase, maintenance and inventory of all programme equipment
- Coordinate and manage Zip Zap’s youth interventions and programmes in collaboration with Zip Zap’s Operations Manager and Zip Zap’s Events Manager
- Support the Operations Manager in the development and implementation of new arts interventions, curriculum, and programming
- Develop and maintain programme policies, procedures, and materials including workshop curricula and debriefs, meetings minutes, and other protocols related to programme implementation
- Implement, evaluate curriculum and programmes for the year
- Work within the budget
- Zip Zap spokesperson for social & education purpose, public and social appearances
- Foster development of good relations with other cultural organisations by participating in meetings and joint activities where appropriate
- Reports to the EXCO every month on activities
- Build strong relationship between Zip Zap and the stakeholders
Requirements:
- Honours or Master’s degree preferably in a development-related and/or arts administration field
- Minimum of five years of experience in the NGO-sector, preferably the arts focused on children and families
- Knowledge and/or experience in the performing art will be an advantage
- Knowledge and/or experience in dealing with vulnerable children, youth, and young adults will be an advantage
- Experience with project financial management will be an advantage
- Experience in human resource
- Ability to think outside the box with excellent decision-making, strategic thinking, and problem-solving skills
- Strong organisational and project coordination skills, including ability to work independently as well as part of a team, manage multiple projects at once, and complete assigned tasks on a timely basis
- Fluent in spreadsheet, email and power point
- Strong oral and written communication skills, including experience writing project reports and stakeholders communication
- Honesty, integrity, professionalism and willingness to work overtime as needed
- Fluency in English and preferably knowledge of one other South African language
- Valid driver’s license, PdP will be an advantage
