FinMark Trust is an independent non-profit trust whose purpose is ‘Making financial markets work for the poor, by promoting financial inclusion and regional financial integration’. FinMark Trust pursues their core objective of making financial markets work for the poor through two principle programmes.
Job Title: Financial Accountant
Job Location: Midrand, Johannesburg
To record and maintain accurate financial records as well as compiling the FMT Income Statement, Balance Sheet and Cashflow statement with notes. Provide support to the Chief Finance Officer on all financial management issues and any other work delegated by the CFO, CEO and FMT management.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Financial Management
- Reviewing cashbook, accounts payables and receivables
- Ensuring correct project costs allocations according to funds received from funders
- Ensuring that expenses are correctly allocated to different project codes
- Preparing Bank Reconciliations for Local and Foreign currency accounts
- Reconciling Foreign currency transaction and track exchange rate effects ( gains/ Losses)
- Maintaining, updating the asset register and reconcile to the General Ledger
- Preparing Retained Earnings Reconciliation
- Preparing and submitting requests for Foreign exchange as required
- Assisting with preparation of Monthly, quarterly and annual Management financial reports and narrative reports when required
- Preparing of draw down requests to principal funders and invoicing for each project
- Preparing of funder reconciliation and reports
- Preparing for external Audits and providing information required by auditors during annual audits
- Operations Management
- Preparing monthly payroll and related 3rd party deductions: PAYE UIF SDL , medical aid, pension funds, staff advances
- Preparing periodic vat, paye and Income tax returns
The Financial Accountant must fulfill the following requirements:
- Bachelors Degree
- 5 years working Experience in a Trust or NGO sector, and/or has Audit Articles
- Auditing experience and conversant with Pastel Evolution a must
- NGO experience will be an added advantage
- Drivers license
- Computer Literacy skills: Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Outlook
- Donor funded organisation knowledge
- Understanding of Geographical representation of organisation
