Masicorp works with the people of Masiphumelele, as well as key partners, offering opportunities through education helping individuals to uplift themselves out of poverty and work towards a sustainable livelihood. Focusing on the township of Masiphumelele (a community of between 40 000 and 50 000 people), Masicorp runs various education and skills development programmes for this community as a route out of poverty.
The focus is on ECD initiatives for children aged 0-6, Maths, Science and English Learning Labs at Primary School Level, High School Maths & Science, Tertiary Education support, Community and School Sports Development, and Adult skills development programmes.
Job Title: Marketing and Communications officer
Job Location: Masiphumelele, Cape Town.
Start date: 1 July
Duration: 1 year contract
Responsibilities:
Social Media Management
- Manage the organisation’s Facebook, Twitter, Instagram pages and YouTube channel, writing daily posts
- Run sponsored ad campaigns on social media platforms
- Collaborate with Fundraising Assistant collecting info and photos from programme leaders which can be used for posts
Website and blog management
- Update the WordPress website
- Write blog articles
- Collaborate with Fundraising Assistant collecting info and photos from programme leaders which can be used for website / blog
Mailchimp newsletters and fundraising appeals
- Manage the organisations Mailchimp account, sending regular email newsletters and fundraising appeals
- Collaborate with Fundraising Assistant maintaining mailing list and donor database
Flyers and branding
- Collaborate with Fundraising Assistant managing all Masicorp branded items (flyers, Annual Reports, banners etc)
Communications Calendar and Reporting
- Create and manage an annual communications calendar
- Quarterly report to Fundraising Manager on social media performance and statistics
Public Relations
- Regular submission of articles and news to the media
Other
- Collaborate with fundraising team on fundraising or marketing events
Requirements:
- Previous communications work experience
- Experienced on all social media platforms
- Written and verbal communication skills
- Fluency in written and spoken English essential
- Attention to detail and highly organised
- Computer literacy essential
- Passion for education and a positive attitude
- Resides in Cape Town, preferably Southern Suburbs/South Peninsula
- Experience in the NPO sector or fundraising will be advantageous
- Comfortable with travelling to or visiting programmes in the Masiphumelele township
- Drivers’ license and own transport preferable
