2024 Internship Programme At The Children’s Hospital Trust
The Children’s Hospital Trust was founded in 1994 as the independent Fundraising Arm of the Red Cross War Memorial Children’s Hospital when the Hospital was threatened with closure due to lack of funding.
Since its inception the Trust has supported the Hospital through upgrading its buildings, purchasing vital equipment and funding critical training and research programmes.
The Trust seeks to appoint a Communications Intern to be based in Cape Town.The successful candidate will work Monday to Thursday 08h00 to 16h00 and earn a monthly salary of R3 780.00.
- The role will assist and offer support to the communications team with planning and coordinating of Trust events and various ad hoc publicity and marketing tasks.
- Assist in sourcing and creating content for online social media channels and website.
- Assist with patient stories and content reporting.
- The intern will also assist with administrative responsibilities, including answering phones, mailing and delivering materials, supporting press events and video/documentary shoots.
- Occasional support for other functional areas of Communications, including Marketing, are also a requirement of the position.
Responsibilities:
- Assist with the coordination of all facets of media liaison in order to generate maximum public awareness around CHT programmes, initiatives, events and donor contributions
- Assist with the initiation and management of press conferences, media photo shoots and interviews
- Liaise with RCCH staff to create newsworthy photo shoots and secure patient consent
- Assist with event logistics, coordination of promotions and cause related marketing campaigns
- Assist with the project management of selected below the line marketing elements e.g. advertisements and below the line marketing material
- Assist with sourcing content and visuals for all marketing material

- Audit and control the need for production of new marketing material
- Assist with sourcing content and visuals for all marketing material
- Assist with sourcing content for the website
- Coordinate Hospital Tours and secure consent from relevant areas in the Hospital
- Update CHT notice board with current relevant material
- Input all interactions and contacts accurately onto the database while observing database protocols on a daily basis
Requirements:

- Must be in 3rd year of studies at a recognised institution and require experiential on the job training
- Partial Diploma or Degree qualification
- Strong organisational and communication skills
