mothers2mothers (m2m) is an Africa-based NGO that unlocks the potential of women to eliminate paediatric AIDS and create healthy families across eight sub-Saharan countries. m2m trains, employs, and helps empower HIV-positive women to work as community healthcare workers in understaffed health centres and underserved communities. Through a peer-to-peer approach, these ‘Mentor Mothers’ deliver a range of health services, advice, and support to women and their families. Started in Cape Town, South Africa in 2001 with an initial focus on preventing mother-to-child transmission of HIV, m2m has innovated and built on its strengths and now provides family-centred support for a range of related health and social issues spanning pregnancy, birth, childhood, and adolescence. It also partners with governments and other NGOs on the adoption of its programme to spread the Mentor Mother Model and its benefits. m2m has a track record of scaling its services and proven impact. In 2024, m2m and its partners enrolled 2.3 million new clients. m2m has virtually eliminated mother-to-child transmission of HIV among the enrolled clients it serves directly for the last four years, with an average transmission rate of just 1.6%, while 97% of children in its ECD programmes meet all of their development milestones at 12 months. Project overview
The anticipated USAID-funded project “Karabo ea Bophelo” (KB) project will work to prevent new HIV infections and reduce vulnerability among orphans and vulnerable children (OVC), adolescent girls and young women (AGYW) in Berea, Leribe, Mafeteng, Maseru, and Mohale’s Hoek districts, Lesotho.
Job Title: Finance Manager
Job Location: Lesotho
Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, business administration or a closely related field. A Master’s degree is preferred
  • 8 years of progressively responsible experience in overseeing financial operations and management of large-scale, complex development activities in developing countries
  • 5 years of experience overseeing the procurement administration and financial management and reporting of a PEPFAR-funded activity
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of U.S. Government financial and procurement rules and regulations
  • Demonstrated written, presentation, communication and organizational skills in English
  • Demonstrated experience with Financial Management tools and systems including high level of proficiency with computerised accounting

Job Title: Strategic Information Manager
Job Location: Lesotho
Qualification and Experience

  • A Bachelor’s degree in public health or related field
  • Minimum of 8 years of work experience in Strategic Information management/M&E including designing, establishing, and managing information/monitoring and evaluation systems, ensuring and improving data quality, reporting accurately and timeously to internal and external audiences, utilizing data visualization to track and communicate data, and managing data intensive, performance- based programmes funded by PEPFAR
  • Demonstrated ability to perform complex data analytics and make recommendations utilising Microsoft Excel, STATA, and/or Business Intelligence tools
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of Lesotho’s health and social service information systems and monitoring and evaluation processes
  • Excellent knowledge of Strategic Information and M&E systems development, best practices, innovations and international developments in HIV

Job Title: Chief of Party
Job Location: Lesotho
Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Public Health or related field, A Master’s degree is preferred
  • 10 years’ experience with progressively increasing responsibility designing, implementing, managing, and leading large development involving multiple partners, stakeholders, and geographic target areas in a developing country
  • 5 five years’ prior experience as a Chief of Party or similar leadership role of a large programme or activity funded by PEPFAR.
  • Experience with OVCA, HIV prevention, AGYW-focused programming (including DREAMS), child welfare and protection programmes, systems strengthening, capacity building, economic strengthening, service delivery, quality improvement, or policy development
  • Demonstrated ability, through previous experience, leading a technical activity through evidence and data driven decision making
  • Demonstrated ability, through previous experience, to liaise with senior government officials, dignitaries, executives of NGOs, FBOs, CBOs, and the for-profit business community, and senior members of the donor community; and sound experience working in a senior leadership/management and/or technical advisory role
  • Excellent experience with managing project cycles including conceptualisation and implementation, monitoring, and evaluation
  • Strong writing and oral presentation skills, including fluency in English

Qualifications and Experience

  • A Master’s degree in social sciences, social work, child development, education or related field
  • Minimum of 10 years of work experience in designing, implementing, and managing OVCA projects; experience with PEPFAR OVCA programmes in the Kingdom of Lesotho is highly desirable
  • Demonstrated experience in managing programmes that address the needs of vulnerable children and adolescents, adolescents living with HIV, OVCA caregiver support, economic strengthening, child protection, violence against children, case management, early childhood development, OVCA policy and advocacy
  • Demonstrated skills in project reporting, preferably for PEPFAR funded OVCA programmes
  • Demonstrated writing and presentation skills
  • Familiarity with the Kingdom of Lesotho’s institutional, policy, and programming context for OVCA
  • Good analytical and problem solving skills
  • Ability to work independently
  • Fluency in English essential; fluency in local language is an advantage

  • Master’s degree in Public Health or a related field (MPA or MBA)
  • Demonstrated experience (a minimum of 5 years) as a senior manager of complex programmes (preferably USAID-funded), with an in-depth understanding of rules of USAID/PEPFAR funding regulations
  • Demonstrated expertise in the following programming areas: OVC, HIV prevention, AGYW (including DREAMS), child welfare and protection, systems strengthening, capacity building, economic strengthening, service delivery, quality improvement, and/or policy development
  • Demonstrated experience with organisational development
  • Strong programmes/grants management, financial, audit and computers skills, as well as strong written and oral communication skills
