28th Annual Catalysis Society of South Africa Conference – UL
The Faculty of Science and Agriculture at the University of Limpopo (UL) has collaborated with the University of South Africa (UNISA) to host the 28th Annual Catalysis Society of South Africa Conference (CATSA) on 19-22 November 2024. CATSA is a non-profit organisation that aims to promote the advancement of catalysis amongst academia and the chemical industry in South Africa. It is also involved in the development of post-graduate students and annually supports several students to participate in catalysis-related events both locally and internationally.
The conference further provides a forum for sharing knowledge and expertise in the fields of homo- and heterogeneous catalysis, while giving young scientists and engineers the opportunity to showcase their work.
It usually coincides with a seminar tour of an eminent international researcher in the field of catalysis. The researcher receives the CATSA Eminent Visitor Award, which is presented at the conference dinner. The 2024 Eminent Visitor awardee is Prof. Krijn P. de Jong from the Utrecht University in the Nederlands. His current research interests are in catalyst synthesis and assembly, hydrocarbon conversions over zeolites, solid catalysts for fine chemicals manufacture, conversion of synthesis gas and hydrogen storage.
