Digby Wells and Associates (Pty) Ltd was formed in January 1995 by three partners – Digby Wells, Ken van Rooyen and Graham Trusler – all three previously from the Environmental Management Department of Rand Mines. The company is named after the late Mr Digby Wells, who made a significant and lasting contribution to the environmental management field in South Africa.
Graham Trusler is the current Chief Executive Officer of Digby Wells & Associates, who ensures the company remains driven by the mission of being the premier environmental and social services provider to the resources industry in Africa.
Digby Wells Environmental, a service provider to the resources industry, is looking for a candidate for the position of Ecology intern in our Bryanston office.
The Ecology Intern will contribute to our organisational goals by providing support and assistance to the Fauna, Flora, Wetlands and Rehabilitation teams.
Job Objectives:
- Study and identify the different species and characteristics on project specific sites.
- Conduct field surveys to collect data.
- Apply different sampling strategies and employ habitat survey techniques.
- Conduct and manage assessments as part of a project.
- Compile reports for submission to client and/or legal authorities. This would include printing, binding and collating of documentation.
- Project, client and public management.
- Environmental Management;
- Project Management (Financial Management);
- Detailed understanding and application of applicable environmental legislation;
- Research methodologies;
- Knowledge of fauna and flora;
- Knowledge of soils and vegetation; and
- Knowledge of wetlands.
Knowledge:
Qualifications : B.Sc. in Ecology or similar.
An all-inclusive remuneration package will be on offer. Applicants need to be prepared to undergo a complete psychometric evaluation as part of the selection process.
