The bursary offered covers a wide range of study options related to the space and research fields. This bursary aims to assist students who are passionate about their chosen field of study. The bursary fund offers funding for certain theme areas of studying. For PhD applicants, this amount is R180 000 per annum for 3 years.
How to apply
It is important to register between March and September. Once you have registered, you will be able to apply. It is important to complete the application in full and attach any relevant documents.
The certified documents include:
– ID document
– Curriculum Vitae (CV)
– A Cover letter
– An Acceptance Letter to an institution
– Matric Certificate
– Full Academic Records including June Progress report and results
– Testimonial
– MSC or PhD Research Proposal
It is important to make sure that these documents are no bigger than 2MB and that they are in MS Word file, Tif Image File or a PDF Adobe file format.

Qualifying criteria
All applicants need to
– be a South African citizen
– hold a valid ID documentation
– hold a valid Matric
– hold a degree or diploma with a minimum average of 65%
– be accepted or meet the requirements for acceptance at an Institute of Higher Learning
– have a valid e-mail address
– be registered or intending to register between the months of March and September
– have a proposal ready
