Job description
Description:
Responsible for realisation of successful systems, i.e. controls, software platform and production systems. Integrates all the disciplines and speciality groups, guides engineering effort itself by setting its objectives and prescribing necessary corrective actions. Provides technical support to the BMW Group production and technical planning network.
Key responsibilities:

  • Responsible for ensuring all electrical and mechanical equipment in his supervision are maintained and in good working order
  • Maintain software applications, operating systems and regular maintenance on such
  • Eliminating equipment failures by commissioning equipment prior to starting up
  • Fault finding on the integrated IT, network , PLC control systems
  • Test software applications and systems
  • Oversee planning, development and maintenance of production systems
  • Supervising the administration of system and servers related network to ensure availability of services to authorised users
  • Provide technical expertise and recommendations in assessing new IT software projects and initiatives to support and enhance our existing controls systems
  • Provide assistance, support and advice to maintenance in the effective use of applications and information technology
  • Assist with managing, planning, coordinating, instructing and supervising external companies at outsourced tasks
  • Write technical procedures and documentation for the applications including operations, user guides, etc.
  • Manage system stability, operations security and scalability
  • Be able to program and analyse PLCs at a high level of technical expertise and must possess clear insights of related systems
  • To upkeep the systems as an administrator in his area of responsibility
  • Verify and buy-off technical documentation for new and existing applications, i.e. E-plan, plc programs, SCADA/visualisation systems

Qualifications:B degree, engineering qualification, technical diploma N4
Experience required:
Minimum five years’ experience in a similar function within the automotive industry. Three+ years in advanced PLC programming and project management
Other requirements:

  • Good knowledge on industrial networks (Ethernet, Profibus, ProfiNet)
  • Sound knowledge of production process and joining technology
  • Analytical skills for planning, organising activities and reporting
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Ability to network and build working relationships
  • Above average technical competence
  • Leadership skills. Leading self, leading business, leading a team
  • Extensive knowledge of Siemens Automotive Products, i.e. PLCs, Profinet and WinCC
