Job description
As a web developer in the AUX team you will be working on developing and improving features built primarily in PHP/WordPress and JavaScript.
You will be creating production grade JavaScript and PHP code and will have the opportunity to implement solutions designed to handle all levels of traffic. You will need to be process driven and eager to learn new technologies and programming languages.

We are a small team of designers and developers based in Cape Town that have been around for over 10 years. We have a strong track-record in design and digital with a range of interesting and challenging projects. Recently we refined our approach and services and we rebranded our company to Auxiliary. (Previously known as Sploosh Digital) This rebrand process has allowed us to pursue bigger and better projects.
Requirements
- Experience building WordPress themes and plug-ins
- Understanding of all things WordPress: WP installation, coding and security best practices, custom post types, etc.
- PHP, SASS, CSS/3, HTML/5, MYSQL, jQuery
- GIT version control
- To be eligible to be shortlisted, you must be a permanent South African citizen
Duties and/or tasks
- Building custom websites (front-end and back-end)
- Working alongside design to plan and execute projects
- Handling existing support tickets/issues
- Training clients (CMS)
- Collaborating on estimates/proposals
Advantageous
- Written and verbal communication skills
- Willing to learn Sketch (for design hand-off)
- MongoDB, React Native, NodeJS, Nginx, Redis, AngularJS
