FNB (First National Bank) is the oldest bank in South Africa, founded in Grahamstown in 1838.
Today, FNB is a division of First Rand Limited along with Wesbank and Rand Merchant Bank and is one of the “big four” banks in South Africa.

ABOUT THE BURSARY

The FNB Fund Bursary Programme is a partial bursary intended to help students fund their studies. Students are advised to apply for funding to cover the remainder of their tuition fees, through their Financial Aid Office at their university or via the NSFAS (National Student Financial Aid Scheme).
Bursaries will be awarded to students studying in the Commerce/ Engineering/ Science field of study and majoring in one of the below:
Commerce Faculty:

ELIGIBILITY

Applicants must meet the following minimal qualifying criteria before applying:

  • South African citizen,
  • Currently studying or intend on studying full-time,
  • Have completed Matric/ NSC within the last 2 years,
  • Proven strong academic merit,
  • Proven financial need
  • Achieved the following minimum results in the June/ final exams in Matric:
    • B Business Science/ B Com: minimum of 60% in Mathematics & English,
    • Engineering: minimum of 60% in Mathematics, Physical Science & English,
    • BSc: minimum of 60% in Mathematics, Physical Science & English.

* Preference will be given to previously disadvantaged individuals, rural students, female students and disabled students.

  • Copy of ID document,
  • Copy of June exam results/ latest exam results if you are not studying in this year,
  • Matric results & latest tertiary results,
  • Two x testimonials: one from an educational official (principal/ lecturer), and one from a political, community or spiritual leader,
  • An essay about your life (self-written),
  • Proof of salaries of parents, guardian or spouse (payslip/ tax return statement/ letter from employer/ sworn statement).
