Job Summary Statement Aveng Manufacturing Lennings Rail Services has the capability to develop, manage and undertake
comprehensive track construction and maintenance projects.
The incumbent will be responsible to supervise mechanical trades and semi-skilled employees to ensure assigned work conforms to quality, productivity and SHE requirements.
Minimum Requirements ACADEMIC QUALIFICATIONS:
• Grade 12 qualification
• Minimum N3 tertiary certificate
• Qualified trade test – Fitter and Tuner
EXPERIENCE:
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience in workshop supervision plus 10 years trade experience
• Preferable experience in Machining, gearboxes / transmissions and hydraulic equipment
Duties & Responsibilities • Provide leadership and direction to assigned labour
• Assist in the management of a harmonious environment, team building and training of apprentices and other employees required
• Coordinate and allocate work to workshop staff in accordance to set out schedules
• Coach and counsel workshop staff to ensure that their work is of a high standard
• Ensure that staff adheres to correct time keeping
• Analyse and discuss engineering and technical problems with workshop staff and find applicable solutions
• Lease with drawing office and engineering department on possible problems and or recommend possible solutions
• Lease with electrical department (Electrical Foreman) on their production and technical requirements
• Assist and lead in the workshop commissioning of machines and equipment
• Required equipment, materials and consumables as required within limits of authority
• Monitor the use of materials and care of equipment and plant to minimise waste damage
• Refer disciplinary action to the workshop Manager
• Assist in employee warnings
• Assist in the estimation hours required to be complicated on jobs
• Ensure that work is performed as per Job Cards
• Sign Start and Finish times on Job Cards
• Assist in preparation of tooling budget
Knowledge Skills & Abilities • Basic Office Computer Literacy
• Preferable forklift and non-slewing crane competency
• Good knowledge of general workshop health and safety
