One Year contract
The HIV Prevention Research Unit Clinical Research Laboratory requires a suitably qualified/experienced Laboratory Data Management System (LDMS) Technician to manage and coordinate sample storage and shipments within a large bio-repository.
Responsibilities:

  • Specimen  and stock management of the repository and LDMS
  • Coordinate shipment of samples locally and internationally as per SOPs and regulations
  • Coordinate sample destruction
  • Maintenance of repository equipment and LDMS software
  • Complete financial invoices and submit projected cost estimations for billing
  • Review and update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), guidelines and forms for LDMS
  • Ensure that the repository is audit ready with all documentation updated
  • Prepare and submit technical and general reports for projects
  • Resolve all data queries generated by Data Management Centers
  • Support and assist the Sites, Central Routine Laboratory and Research Laboratory.
  • Research Administration support duties

Core Requirements:

  • 3 year qualification in Biological/Health Sciences
  • 1 year experience in sample archiving in a diagnostic or research laboratory
  • Valid unendorsed Code 8 driver’s licence
  • Willing to work outside normal working hours, i.e. shifts and weekends

Advantageous:

  • Knowledge and experience of LDMS software
  • Good Clinical Laboratory Practice (GCLP), Good Clinical Practice (GCP), International Air Transport Association (IATA) and registration with the Health Professions Council of SA
  • Registration with HPCSA as a Medical Technician and/or Laboratory Assistant.

A salary in the region of R233 000.00 per annum, cost-to-company, will be negotiated in consideration of experience and qualifications.
