Job description
Key performance areas
Deliver against e-commerce and broader business commercial targets
- Grow sales from the email and SMS marketing channel
- Increase the digital sales penetration amongst our customer base
- Grow the size of the email base – prioritising email collection amongst our existing customer base
Channel management
- Improve the targeting and relevance of our email activity by working closely with marketing and customer analytics teams to identify and exploit customers’ behavioural trends
- Implement the relevant automated trigger emails
- Develop upsell and cross capabilities and action plans for the channel
- Work with creative teams to guide the production of high quality digital content for use across the relevant channels
- Manage AB testing to optimise campaign performance
- Manage the frequency and targeting of email campaigns to keep unsubscribe levels to a minimum
- Where relevant, manage external partners to successfully deliver the requested activity
- Create a combined emailer plan between HomeChoice & FinChoice to ensure the overall emailer communication to customer and the frequency of communication is managed
Measurement and reporting
- Analyse results of all campaigns and activity, providing recommendations for improvement
- Provide weekly, monthly and quarterly reports, sharing insights and recommendations for future growth across email and SMS channels
Grow our capabilities
- Ensure we are fully exploiting our existing technology and acquiring the relevant additional capabilities – with the aim of delivering increasingly effective email marketing
- Constantly stay abreast of technology developments in the field, bringing the relevant new ideas to HomeChoice for implementation
- Act as a thought leader and change agent for the business in the area of e-commerce and digital communications
Operational
- Compile emailer/SMS briefs weekly and brief these into the creative production team
- Pull data across email and SMS campaigns, to analyse for reporting purposes and creation of campaign audiences
- Clean data from viral and POPI campaigns to include relevant information
Requirements
Qualifications and accreditations
- Bachelor degree or Certificate in marketing or related field
- Emailer systems certification will be an added advantage
Experience and skills
- A minimum of two years’ experience within a similar role
- Extensive knowledge of the email marketing channel and techniques
- Extensive knowledge of marketing and merchandising to customers via both web and mobi sites
- In-depth knowledge of the planning, implementation and evaluation of online marketing activities and plans
- Strong understanding of the e-commerce landscape, trends and technologies
- Strategy development and implementation will be an added advantage
- Deep understanding of the online customer journey – best practice and requirements
- Experience in the enhancement and improvement of digital content, including being skilled in the underlying principles of visual design for digital comms channels will be an added advantage
- Experience with website analytics tools (eg Google Analytics)
- Managing content and marketing asset production for high traffic websites will be an added advantage
- Hands-on experience working with a leading email delivery tool, preferably Silverpop
- Selecting and managing external partners will be advantageous
- An online retail marketing background will be advantageous
- HTML coding and email technology background will be an added advantage
